Akkeshi - Akkeshi Shosho 2021 Japanese Blended Whisky 48%ABV 30ml

"The Akkeshi distillery only started operations in 2016 and is already a success story . Like its role models on the whiskey island of Islay, the first distillery in the city of the same name in the Hokkaido region is located directly on the sea - just a few metres from the Pacific Ocean. Surrounded by swamps, it also has direct access to the local peat . The distillery releases its celebrated whiskeys in the “24 Solar Term Series” – a series that is modelled on the old Asian calendar, in which a year is divided into 24 solar years.

The fourth release in the series is Shosho 2021 . Shosho represents the end of summer. Warm and bright like late summer, the blended malt combines some of the best malt and grain whiskeys from around the world . The distillates come from a wide variety of barrel types such as Mizunara, Bourbon and Sherry . Sounds like an excellent taste experience? The jury at the World Whiskeys Awards 2022 saw the same thing and named Shosho the best blended whiskey."
