Ardnamurchan's first core release that is heavily sherried using a combination of PX and Oloroso casks. It's a whisky in two parts; Peat and coastal notes first, then the sherry arrives late in a sweet rush of dried fruits and vanilla, mixed up with oily lanolin, tangy peel and menthol tobacco. This sold very quickly in Europe.
In classic Australian style, this whisky has absolutely rippled flavour out of its cask. However, while I was expecting spiky youth in the spirit and the abv, it drinks with a maturity and ease that belies these facts. I have since bought two bottles. Absolutely delicious and as good, if not better, than it’s Scotch peers
