Balmenach 2001 First Fill Sherry Cask 06/06081 Masam 59.7%ABV 15ml / 30ml

2019 release from the personal collection of Silvano Samaroli. An 18 year old Balmenach matured in a first fill sherry cask. Dark fruits and prunes -very rich and long finish. Absolute banger of a sherry cask. The sister cask aged longer and released in 2021 was good but was ruined for me as my expectations had been raised very high by this one. Age isn't everything sometimes when a whisky is ready, its ready. 18 years sometimes is absolutely perfect for an active sherry cask.
