Bruichladdich 14y/o Yellow Submarine [Reclassified] 54.2%abv 30ml

The latest edition of Bruichladdich's iconic Yellow Submarine bottlings. The first edition was released in 2005 to commemorate the discovery of a yellow submarine in the waters off the coast of Islay by two fishermen, and his since become one of the most popular bottlings by the standout Islay distillery. Paying homage to the original Yellow Submarine's finish in Rioja casks, this release is aged in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks, and first- and second-fill Bordeaux red wine casks.

Honeyed oats and buttery shortbread open the nose, leading into the sweetness of toasted hazelnuts, pralines, and pistachio baklava, balanced by the warming spices of ginger and pink peppercorn.

The palate is bursting with flavours of honeysuckle and orange citrus balanced by crisp apples and pears complemented by crème brûlée, and a hint of salty sea breeze belying the whisky's Islay origins. The finish lingers with silky honeyed sweetness, a gentle spiciness, and toasted hazelnut.
