The 2008 Jupille Casks is a special edition that was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021 exclusively for the French retailer, Les Comptoir Irlandais, aged in Jupille Casks, a very obscure French oak from the 5,000ha Jupille Forest near the Loire Valley. The wood is dense with a tight grain. Its profile is said to impart pink rose and vanilla. Pair that with the honey, melon and pear of the Bushmills malt and you have a melody of flavour that is sure to please. Non-chill filtered.
In classic Australian style, this whisky has absolutely rippled flavour out of its cask. However, while I was expecting spiky youth in the spirit and the abv, it drinks with a maturity and ease that belies these facts. I have since bought two bottles. Absolutely delicious and as good, if not better, than it’s Scotch peers
