Kanosuke Sherry Cask Vatted Japanese Single Malt Whisky 48%ABV 30ml

Kanosuke is a famous shochu producer with a long history of spirit production. In the 1950's they were the first to age Shochu in oak barrels to create their famous 'mellowed shochu' which tastes very much like a light single grain whisky. A key feature of Kanosuke is the use of these shochu casks in the maturation of their single malt - innovating to create interesting flavour profiles from young whiskies. With more time Kanosuke can take a more traditional approach with older sherry cask matured whiskies and this is their first flagship sherry based release.

This limited edition is a unique sherry cask expression generously using whiskies aged in two types of sherry casks: Oloroso and Cream. This expression explores Kanosuke's style of mellowness, while retaining the spicy Japanese "wa" nuance from the shochu casks that is a core part of Kanosuke's profile. There is also a touch of new American white oak to add a touch more depth. The whisky offers an aroma of dark cherry and rich flavour reminiscent of fruit pound cake. On the palate, gentle waves of mangosteen leads to a serene finish, like a sunset by the sea. 

Tasting Notes: 

Nose: Dark cherry, Vanilla, Nikki(Japanese cinnamon), Raspberry

Palate: Soft raisins, Dark chocolate, Cloves, Fruits pound cake

Finish: Tropical mangosteen, a subtle, oaky dryness lingering on the long finish
