Distilled at Laphroaig Distillery in Islay and matured in the famous Warehouse 1 with the postcard Laphroaig written on the side on the seafront. This Laphroaig was matured in first-fill Makers Mark Bourbon barrels giving it a sweetness and softness - the maturation in a seafront dunnage warehouse definitely gives the whisky a salty coastal note. Some of the famous signature medicinal iodine notes are dialled down and softened. This is a really approachable and tasty Laphroaig for drinkers that don't usually like Laphroaig
In classic Australian style, this whisky has absolutely rippled flavour out of its cask. However, while I was expecting spiky youth in the spirit and the abv, it drinks with a maturity and ease that belies these facts. I have since bought two bottles. Absolutely delicious and as good, if not better, than it’s Scotch peers
