The Mars Single Cask Tsunuki #2082 is a bottling for LMDW. The whiskey, distilled in 2017, matured in a bourbon cask. The edition is limited and consists of 175 bottles.

This Lightly peated Japanese single malt distilled at Tsunuki Distillery in the south of Kyushu Island and then matured at Yakushima which is a remote pristine mountainous subtropical island 3 hours flight south of Tokyo famous for wilderness hiking and Yakushima cedars - possibly the oldest trees in the world estimated to be 3000 to 7000 years old. Mars have a well known Shochu distillery on Yakushima so are taking advatage of the warm weather coastal warehouses they own there to mature whisky.

Mars Japanese Whisky have built distilleries and maturation warehouses in different climates and geographies. The aim is to be able to create a wide variety of flavour profiles in order to make the finest Japanese blends. They are also releasing single malts from Tsunuki and Komagatake distilleries (formerly known as Shinshu - the highest distillery in Japan), Some whiskies are distilled at one site and then matured at another depending on the desired flavour profile - also I suspect whiskies mature much faster on the humid almost tropical coast of Yakushima than  800metres up a mountain in the central Japanese alps.

At Shinshu Distillery
At Tsunuki Distillery
