Pōkeno Moscatel Sherry Single Cask #34 TWC Exclusive NZ Single Malt Whisky 62.2%ABV 30ml

A single cask Pokeno bottled for the Whisky Club. Pokeno is a whisky that gets better each year and this is one of their oldest casks. I went to Dramfest in Christchurch last year and did a deep dive into NZ whisky, so deep that I was ill in bed for over a week when I got back to Melbourne. Pokeno's single casks were the highlight and the biggest surprise was the airport exclusive Savannah Rum Single Cask NZ Airport Exclusive. This is another special single cask Pokeno and they take their wood very seriously with their own cooperage at the distillery. Non chill-filtered, bottled at a whopping 62% cask strength and a natural colour so dark it could play for the All Blacks.

Nose

Mānuka honey with blackcurrant preserve, milk coffee and candied orange slice.

Palate

Macadamia fudge, fresh orange and bright red apple turns to a finish of bold treacle and raspberry.
