Port Dundas 11y/o Single Note Single Grain Whisky 60.4%ABV 30ml

I remember when Port Dundas closed its doors in 2011. I didn't shed a tear as I'm not a fan of single grain whisky, but now I'm feeling a bit upset. This is a young ex-Bourbon cask single grain whisky finished in a first fill PX quarter cask. Did they use better bourbon casks in the final year of production or was the PX quarter cask just perfect. This is a sensational whisky for a 11 year old - the nose is great, the mouthfeel is oily and coats the mouth in thick unctuous deliciousness. This is a very sweet sherry driven whisky with some typical christmas cake and sherry notes - but then there is honey, pears, bubble gum followed by coffee liqueur, leather, tobacco and tea. Mind blown - if you are a bit of a single malt snob like me try this.
