Single Malt Australian Whisky finished in ex Bourbon Stout Casks for 18 months. This is a Starward Projects release - a program where the distillers' experiment with different barrels and create flavour forward and unique expressions.
This cask strength blend is a Melbourne marriage of our mature whisky from red wine barrels and small-format Apera barrels with the roasty, bold flavours of specialty stout.
In classic Australian style, this whisky has absolutely rippled flavour out of its cask. However, while I was expecting spiky youth in the spirit and the abv, it drinks with a maturity and ease that belies these facts. I have since bought two bottles. Absolutely delicious and as good, if not better, than it’s Scotch peers
