Australian Whisky Tasting Champs Training Pack - 8 x 30ml

The pack contains 8 blind whisky samples with scratch off labels and a list of 9 whiskies. 

The Australian Malt Whisky Tasting Championships, run by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society are being held in Melbourne July 19th. The format of the competition is that competitors are given 8 whiskies marked 1-8 and a list of 9 whiskies with a box next to each - one of the whiskies listed is a red herring. The winner is named Malt Whisky tasting champion of Australia and wins a big prize and there are prizes for the second, third and fourth places.

The whiskies are all widely available core range whiskies there are no independent bottlings, single casks or super premium high age statement whiskies. There have been blended malts included and whiskies from outside Scotland but primarily the whiskies are Single Malt Scotch whiskies

 If there is a peated whisky there are usually 2 or three otherwise there are none at all if there was just one peated it would be too easy. When there are 4 core range Speyside 10 -12 year old whiskies tasted blind it is really difficult to discern them.

 Most of Horny Pony customers are big whisky fans and so rarely drink entry level core range whiskies so reacquainting yourself with these whiskies is well worth it and practice is quite fun and helps tune the palate. The event is well worth competing in - and its lots of fun and usually continues well into the night.
