SMWS notes:The Panel all agreed this one was stunningly fruity. Pure Juicy Fruit chewing gum with pineapple jelly, soft citronella waxes and various things like starched linens in a coastal breeze, sandalwood, dusty lemon bonbons and barley water drizzled with linseed oil. Water brought out rapeseed oil, woolly jumpers, waxed canvass, earthy potting sheds, lychee, vase water, bath salts and seaweed flakes in umami broth. The palate opened with a slick of fruity waxes, bog myrtle, lemon scented candles, olive oil, fragrant sandalwood, mineral oils and new world IPA. Water brought jellied exotic fruits, limoncello with tonic water, white stone fruits in a fruit salad and a few waxy textured medicines.
In classic Australian style, this whisky has absolutely rippled flavour out of its cask. However, while I was expecting spiky youth in the spirit and the abv, it drinks with a maturity and ease that belies these facts. I have since bought two bottles. Absolutely delicious and as good, if not better, than it’s Scotch peers
