Grand Frere (Ardbeg) Islay Single Malt matured in France- Michel Couvreur 58%ABV - 30ml
A unique and exceptional peated single cask whisky from France’s Michel Couvreur bottled by Barrel & Batch.
Michel Couvreur source whisky from undisclosed Scottish distilleries and mature them in their Burgundian caves, often in sherry casks.
This whisky, created especially for Barrel & Batch, was inspired by the peated Candid release. A single cask version at 58%, they considered this to be the ‘Big Brother’ or ‘Grand Frere’ of Candid.
A 13-year-old from an Islay distillery, it was matured in a first fill oloroso sherry butt from Equipo Navazos.
“Other than the Islay Region, we don't know where the distillate for Michel Couvreur Grand Frère comes from and [MC manager] Jean Arnaud would never tell us. But some rumours of spirit shipments and old friendships did point to a distillery we'd... beg you all to find. We think the rumours might be right, or we might be wrong, but we'd love to hear what you think.”
