Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry Cask Australian Exclusive Cask#S170518006D Taiwanese Single Malt Whisky 53.2%ABV 30ml

Unfortunately, a let down. The Kavalan was recommended to me by a whiskey specialist for its supposed similarity to The Lakes whiskey. I personally am grateful to have the opportunity to sample this dram through the Horny Pony because it is far from the texture and expression I was lead to believe. This whiskey has a distinct burn and an unfortunate nose. I found no depth in the palate. Adding a splash of water did not help in opening the whiskey up. I have a sample of its brother Kavalan Whiskey and will see if fares differently
