SMWS Tasting Notes
Colour: Toucan’s beak
Flavour Profile: Spicy & dry
We found the nose sweet, fruity and attractive – orange
fondant, marmalade, jelly babies, pineapple – even a deeper note of orange
muscat wine – but wait! – was that a barista’s apron – wafting little hints of
coffee and flavoured syrups? The palate was a lively, intense trumpet blast of
fruit – lemon drops, Meltis Newberry fruit jellies (according to one of our
sweetie veterans), tinned fruit cocktail and fruit salad chews. With water, the
nose developed heady citrus aromas (lemon toffee bonbons); the palate was
mouth-watering and tropical, with chalky Edinburgh Rock, acid drops and gentle
strokes of wood leaving pleasant dryness on the finish.
Drinking Tip: After a hard day’s work
