A very active first fill Oloroso Sherry cask somewhat dominates, very dark and rich -sugar, berries, tobacco, leather, nutella, very slight astringency on the finish like a slightly bitter dark chocolate. Bottled by the German independent bottler The Whisky Cask this was a hyped bottle in Europe a few years ago - largely because of the very dark copper colour and very high scoring reviews by enthusiastic sherry heads. Later reviewers who were not fans of this profile called it close to a fortified sherry with some tannin bitterness - clearly they haven't tasted much Aussie whisky where big cask influence from fortified wine and tannins is often more evident.
I've actually been wanting to taste this so I can make up my mind to buy a bottle. When I found your site and saw it had this I immediately bought some tasting samples and absolutely loved it! Will definitely invest in a bottle
Heard for a while how good Littlemill’s can be. This SMWS 30yo certainly did not disappoint, the nose on this dram was amazing.
It was a flavour packed palete, that certainly stood out as such a fine whisky.
Thanks again Horny Pony for providing some banging drams, with a great service throughout
An absolutely amazing whisky, this Imperial 24yo was flavour heaven. Could see from the second it was poured into the Glencairn that it was something special.
Also the service provided by Horny Pony was brilliant, well recommended for anyone looking for trying some special whiskies.
Just wow. Gets better and better after about an hour, sweet, salty, dry finish and legs that take about a week to run down the glass. Mastery in a glass. Thank you HP for making it possible for me to try this dram.
