In Scotland anything under 40% cannot be called whisky (in Australia its 38%). What we have here is a famous Christmas release from East Village Whisky Company in Germany labelled as 'a premium spirit drink' as it is 39%ABV. A parcel of very old Invergordon casks from the Whisky Agency had fallen below 40% and would usually be added to super premium high age statement blends with higher abv single malt whiskies to make the final blended whisky over 40%. However, Peter Ostendorf the owner of the East Village Whisky Company tried this under proof whisky and was blown away and decided to include it in a blind tasting - people went crazy for it. There have now been 4 other releases - each barrel only has 64 to 100 bottles as the angels have taken a hefty share - they sell out before they even hit the stores. The most recent one was only 48 years old with an abv of 35.5%. This Christmas bottle is the original East Village Spirit Drink and is a cult bottling in Germany selling for big money at auction. Forget the age, forget the price, forget the abv.... try it - it's delicious - especially if you like crunchy nut cornflakes with fruit on top.
I've actually been wanting to taste this so I can make up my mind to buy a bottle. When I found your site and saw it had this I immediately bought some tasting samples and absolutely loved it! Will definitely invest in a bottle
Heard for a while how good Littlemill’s can be. This SMWS 30yo certainly did not disappoint, the nose on this dram was amazing.
It was a flavour packed palete, that certainly stood out as such a fine whisky.
Thanks again Horny Pony for providing some banging drams, with a great service throughout
An absolutely amazing whisky, this Imperial 24yo was flavour heaven. Could see from the second it was poured into the Glencairn that it was something special.
Also the service provided by Horny Pony was brilliant, well recommended for anyone looking for trying some special whiskies.
Just wow. Gets better and better after about an hour, sweet, salty, dry finish and legs that take about a week to run down the glass. Mastery in a glass. Thank you HP for making it possible for me to try this dram.
