Latest release from the Cask Exploration series - this one is a banger - Syrah casks (basically Shiraz wine from France). Can't say I'm a big fan of red wine casks but somehow this works amazingly with heavy Islay peat - loads of berries and smoke. I've been critical of some of the offerings from the South Coast Islay heavyweights especially Ardbeg but Port Charlotte's cask exploration series is still delivering great innovative peated expressions.
